The best cooktop surface in my opinion is a ceramic glass smooth cooktop. I can’t speak for everyone, of course, but I think the smooth cooktop surface has some distinct advantages. As far as cleaning goes, it’s by far the easiest. This is due to the fact there are no nooks for food, grease or other “junk” to get into. Enamel cooktops aren’t usually that difficult to clean either, but it does usually require more effort than just a swipe.

Besides being easy to clean, I think the ceramic glass cooktops are also the best looking. They have a very sleek, modern look to them. Enamel models are definitely more classic looking, for the most part. Some people really love the classic enamel / gas cooktops, and I actually like them too. But, if you are looking for a simple, modern, easy-to-clean model, I’d go with the smooth cooktop.
